What the light means
Solid or flashing. It matters.

Solid light
One or more tires is low. Check the pressures against your door placard and top up. If it comes back, a tire may have a slow leak.

Flashes, then stays on
The system itself has a fault: a sensor is missing, not talking to the car, or has a dead battery. Topping up air won’t clear it.

Winter wheels without sensors
On cars with direct TPMS, the light stays on all season if the winter set has none.

Sensors need a relearn
Some cars learn new sensors on their own. Others need a reset procedure or a scan tool.

Dead sensor battery
Batteries are sealed inside the sensor and commonly last around 5 to 10 years. The sensor is replaced.

A tire is actually low
Cold snaps drop pressure fast. So do nails. We check the tire before we blame the sensor.

How much does a TPMS sensor cost?
A new Autel sensor at Bramalea Tire is $49.99, installed, programmed and relearned to your car. A relearn on its own is $19.99. Prices before HST.
Do sensors for my winter wheels cost more?
No. Sensors for a winter set are the same price: $49.99 per sensor, installed.
Why did my TPMS light come on after changing my tires?
The seasonal wheels may not have sensors, a sensor battery may be weak, the sensors may need to relearn to the car, or one of the tires may simply be low. We can find out which.
Can I drive with the tire pressure light on?
If the light is solid, check your pressures as soon as you safely can: a low tire wears faster, brakes worse and can overheat. If it’s flashing then solid, the tires may be fine, but the system can’t warn you if one goes low, so have it checked.
Can you swap tires if my winter wheels don’t have sensors?
Usually, yes. On cars with direct TPMS, the warning light may stay on while those wheels are on. Some vehicles have different requirements, so tell us if you’re unsure.
Can you program or relearn my sensors during a swap?
On many vehicles, yes. Some relearn automatically, some need a reset procedure, and others need programming with a scan tool. If extra TPMS work is needed, we tell you first.
How long do TPMS sensors last?
Most sensors run on a sealed battery that commonly lasts around 5 to 10 years. When the battery dies, the sensor is replaced; the battery can’t be swapped on its own.
