Both fit properly when they're matched to your vehicle. The difference is how they look, what they weigh and what they cost.
Steel wheels
The winter favourite. Tough against salt, potholes and curbs, simple to replace, and the most affordable way to run a second set of tires. Not an option on most newer European and luxury vehicles, whose brakes they don't clear.
Alloy wheels
Lighter, sharper-looking and made in more finishes and styles, from factory-look replicas to aftermarket designs. A great year-round upgrade.
